Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Christ as the Man of Sorrows by Filippino Lippi was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 22,500.00 (€ 16,222.06). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Filippino Lippi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Penitent Mary Magdalen adoring the True Cross in a rocky landscape in January 2005 with an auction result of USD 2,256,000.00 (€ 1,728,868.11).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Christ as the Man of Sorrows von Filippino Lippi im Januar 2010 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 22.500,00 (€ 16.222,06) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Filippino Lippi erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Penitent Mary Magdalen adoring the True Cross in a rocky landscape im Januar 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.256.000,00 (€ 1.728.868,11).
