Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work The Japanese Print by Fernand Toussaint was worth USD 93,750.00 (€ 83,038.09) to a buyer in January 2015. This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & 19th Century European Art at Sothebys in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 20,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Fernand Toussaint; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Femme Élégante Au Parc, Paris sold at auction in November 2004 with the realized price of GBP 71,700.00 (€ 103,140.06).
