In June 2010 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century European Paintings Including German, Austrian and Central European Paintings, The Orientalist Sale, Spanish Painting and the Scandinavian Sale, which included the work German reclining Odalisque by Ferdinand Max Bredt. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 97,250.00 (€ 118,265.05), 62% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Ferdinand Max Bredt; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot An Oriental Noblewoman And Her Entourage On A Barge sold at auction in June 2005 with the realized price of GBP 131,200.00 (€ 194,446.69).
