Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Frederik Tudgay could be acquired at Christies in New York in July 2004 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Maritime auction, the work The Byzantium in two positions off the cliffs of Dover with Dover castle in the distance changed hands for USD 23,900.00 (€ 19,863.70) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. Other works by Frederik Tudgay have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in January 2007 by the work The three-masted clipper ship England's Glory with a lighthouse and other shipping in the distance at USD 33,600.00 (€ 25,850.13).
