Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Blackwall frigate Nile in two positions off the White Cliffs of Dover by Frederik Tudgay was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2000. The price achieved of GBP 7,050.00 (€ 11,312.65) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 6,500.00 – 8,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frederik Tudgay - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The three-masted clipper ship England's Glory with a lighthouse and other shipping in the distance, which sold at auction in January 2007 for USD 33,600.00 (€ 25,850.13).
