This artwork by Everett Shinn achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in October 2016. In the American Art, Including the Collection of George S. Parker II from the Caxambas Foundation auction, the work Mark Twain sold for USD 13,750.00 (€ 12,543.33) - well above the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Everett Shinn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Park Scene in November 2012 with an auction result of USD 332,500.00 (€ 255,572.64).
