Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Black Dress by Everett Shinn was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 18,750.00 (€ 16,098.57). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Everett Shinn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Park Scene in November 2012 with an auction result of USD 332,500.00 (€ 255,572.64).
