Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Angel With The Serpent by Evelyn de Morgan was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 43,750.00 (€ 48,818.28) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Evelyn de Morgan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Gloria in Excelsis in December 2020 with an auction result of GBP 622,500.00 (€ 695,387.98).

Die Arbeit The Angel With The Serpent von Evelyn de Morgan kam im Juli 2017 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 43.750,00 (€ 48.818,28) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Evelyn de Morgan erzielen.
