Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait de Charles de Verninac (1803-1834) by Eugène Delacroix was sold in the Collection de Monsieur & Madame Robert Schmit | Œuvres choisies – Session I auction at Sothebys in Paris in December last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 300,000 - 500,000, the actual price achieved of EUR 327,100 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Eugène Delacroix achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tigre jouant avec une tortue in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 9,875,000 (€ 8,461,868).
