This artwork by Eugène Delacroix achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January this year. In the Old Master and 19th Century Prints auction, the work Un forgeron (A Blacksmith) sold for USD 8,820.00 (€ 8,123.04) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Eugène Delacroix achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tigre jouant avec une tortue in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 9,875,000.00 (€ 8,461,868.04).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 76 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Eugène Delacroix erzielte im Januar diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Prints wurde die Arbeit Un forgeron (A Blacksmith) für USD 8.820,00 (€ 8.123,04) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 5.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Eugène Delacroix erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tigre jouant avec une tortue im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 9.875.000,00 (€ 8.461.868,04).
