This price was achieved in the auction 19th Century European & Orientalist Art at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ettore Simonetti achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The carpet merchant in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 553,250.00 (€ 702,910.35).
