Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2006 Christies in London held the auction Master Drawings from the Oppé Collection, which included the work Musicians playing the double bass, flute and keyboard, and singing by Etienne de Lavallée-Poussin. The price achieved of GBP 1,320.00 (€ 1,959.05) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Etienne de Lavallée-Poussin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A seated woman sewing; and A seated woman working at her embroidery, which sold at auction in December 2006 for GBP 5,040.00 (€ 7,479.99).
