Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Erskine Nicol could be acquired at Sothebys in London in November 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the A GREAT BRITISH COLLECTION: The pictures collected by Sir David and Lady Scott, sold to benefit the Finnis Scott Foundation auction, the work The Approaching Storm changed hands for GBP 375.00 (€ 453.40) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Erskine Nicol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Salmon Fishing in May 2007 with an auction result of GBP 48,000.00 (€ 70,635.25).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Erskine Nicol konnte im November 2008 bei Sothebys in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion A GREAT BRITISH COLLECTION: The pictures collected by Sir David and Lady Scott, sold to benefit the Finnis Scott Foundation wechselte die Arbeit The Approaching Storm für GBP 375,00 (€ 453,40) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Erskine Nicol erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Salmon Fishing im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 48.000,00 (€ 70.635,25).
