The work The awakening of the daughter of Jaïris by Ernesto Fontana was sold in the PICTURES, WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS auction at Christies in Amsterdam in June 2004. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 4,182.50 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The awakening of the daughter of Jaïris is the most expensive artwork by Ernesto Fontana that we have observed at auctions so far.
