In July 2007 Christies in London held the auction British, Continental & Russian Pictures & Prints, which included the work The Duchess of Montrose, at full steam by Ernest Burnett Hood. The auction ended at the price of GBP 3,000.00 (€ 4,455.69), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Duchess of Montrose, at full steam is the most expensive artwork by Ernest Burnett Hood that we have observed at auctions so far.
