Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sigmund Freud Visiting The Lascaux Cave by Eran Shakine was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in July 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 318.75 (€ 268.67). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Eran Shakine achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Goats: Two Works in December 2013 with an auction result of USD 6,250.00 (€ 4,535.89).
