Sold at the upper estimate price
In April 2014 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Paintings, which included the work Calligraphy by Emperor Daoguang. The auction ended at the price of HKD 400,000.00 (€ 37,202.60), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of HKD 300,000.00 – 400,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Emperor Daoguang - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Seven-character Poem in Running Script Calligraphy, which sold at auction in November 2011 for HKD 980,000.00 (€ 93,753.07).
