Auction result well in line with expectations
The work As Told in a Garden by Emily Mae Smith was sold in the 21st Century Art Day Sale auction at Christies in Hong Kong in December last year. The price achieved of HKD 3,528,000.00 (€ 422,779.58) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 2,800,000.00 – 3,800,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Emily Mae Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Broom Life, which sold at auction in June 2021 for HKD 12,350,000.00 (€ 1,341,530.22).

Die Arbeit As Told in a Garden von Emily Mae Smith wurde im Dezember letzten Jahres in der Auktion 21st Century Art Day Sale bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von HKD 3.528.000,00 (€ 422.779,58) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit HKD 2.800.000,00 – 3.800.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Emily Mae Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Broom Life beobachtet, die im Juni 2021 für HKD 12.350.000,00 (€ 1.341.530,22) versteigert wurde.
