Unbound as issued in original red morocco and cloth portfolio, upper cover blocked in gilt 'Hon.E.Eden's/India' around a vignette illustration of a snake coiled around an egg

Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Emily Eden achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in April 2010. In the Travel, Science and Natural History auction, the work Portraits of the Princes & Peoples of India sold for GBP 55,250.00 (€ 63,581.94) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 20,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Emily Eden; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portraits of the Princes & People of India. London: J. Dickinson & Son, 1844. sold at auction in September 2001 with the realized price of GBP 64,250.00 (€ 103,736.32).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Emily Eden erzielte im April 2010 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Travel, Science and Natural History wurde die Arbeit Portraits of the Princes & Peoples of India für GBP 55.250,00 (€ 63.581,94) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 20.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Emily Eden; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Portraits of the Princes & People of India.
