Auction result well in line with expectations
The work French North African Courtesans by Émile Edmond Peynot was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2009. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 35,000.00 (€ 26,427.06) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Émile Edmond Peynot - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Seated Arab Cleaning His Weapons, which sold at auction in May 2000 for USD 52,875.00 (€ 56,684.18).
