In the A GREAT BRITISH COLLECTION: The pictures collected by Sir David and Lady Scott, sold to benefit the Finnis Scott Foundation auction, the work Wick Lane, Hackney, London sold for GBP 3,000.00 (€ 3,627.23) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Elwin Hawthorne; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Cumberland Market sold at auction in November 2008 with the realized price of GBP 5,250.00 (€ 6,347.64).
