Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Binoculars With Campaign Chair by Elizabeth Cope was auctioned at Sothebys in London in October 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 4,750.00 (€ 6,821.31). Other works by Elizabeth Cope have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in May 2007 by the work Still Life With Cat And Flowers at GBP 5,760.00 (€ 8,476.23).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Binoculars With Campaign Chair von Elizabeth Cope im Oktober 2007 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 4.750,00 (€ 6.821,31) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Elizabeth Cope wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Mai 2007 die Arbeit Still Life With Cat And Flowers mit GBP 5.760,00 (€ 8.476,23).
