Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Seated Figure by Elizabeth Catlett was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 11,875.00 (€ 11,055.77). Admittedly, works by Elizabeth Catlett have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Woman Fixing Her Hair in April 2014 with an auction result of USD 149,000.00 (€ 107,426.10).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Seated Figure von Elizabeth Catlett im März 2015 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 11.875,00 (€ 11.055,77) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Elizabeth Catlett auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Woman Fixing Her Hair im April 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 149.000,00 (€ 107.426,10).
