Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Geography of the Heavens: Five Plates by Elijah Hinsdale Burritt was auctioned at Christies in New York in February 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,250.00 (€ 823.07). Admittedly, works by Elijah Hinsdale Burritt have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Atlas of The Heavens: Six Plates in April 2006 with an auction result of USD 7,200.00 (€ 5,703.42).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Geography of the Heavens: Five Plates von Elijah Hinsdale Burritt im Februar 2008 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.250,00 (€ 823,07) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Elijah Hinsdale Burritt auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Atlas of The Heavens: Six Plates im April 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.200,00 (€ 5.703,42).
