Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by El Anatsui achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in March this year. In the Modern & Contemporary African Art auction, the work 'Talakawa' 120 X 50 X 40Cm (47 1/4 X 19 11/16 X 15 3/4In). sold for GBP 75,900.00 (€ 86,350.91) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by El Anatsui achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Prophet in May this year with an auction result of USD 2,228,000.00 (€ 2,091,233.34).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von El Anatsui erzielte im März diesen Jahres bei Bonhams einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art wurde die Arbeit 'Talakawa' 120 X 50 X 40Cm (47 1/4 X 19 11/16 X 15 3/4In). für GBP 75.900,00 (€ 86.350,91) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von El Anatsui erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Prophet im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.228.000,00 (€ 2.091.233,34).
