Auction result well in line with expectations
In October this year Bonhams in Edinburgh held the auction Modern & Contemporary African Art, which included the work Nativity, 1991 by El Anatsui. The price achieved of GBP 76,600.00 (€ 87,958.08) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 60,000.00 – 90,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by El Anatsui achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Prophet in May this year with an auction result of USD 2,228,000.00 (€ 2,091,233.34).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in Edinburgh die Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Nativity, 1991 von El Anatsui zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 76.600,00 (€ 87.958,08) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 60.000,00 – 90.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von El Anatsui erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Prophet im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.228.000,00 (€ 2.091.233,34).
