In October last year Christies in London held the auction A Place With No Name: Works from the Sina Jina Collection, which included the work Drying Line by El Anatsui. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 126,000.00 (€ 146,788.60), 58% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by El Anatsui achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Prophet in May this year with an auction result of USD 2,228,000.00 (€ 2,091,233.34).

Im Oktober letzten Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion A Place With No Name: Works from the Sina Jina Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Drying Line von El Anatsui zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 126.000,00 (€ 146.788,60) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von El Anatsui erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Prophet im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.228.000,00 (€ 2.091.233,34).
