This artwork by Edward Portielje achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Amsterdam in April 2006. In the 19th Century European Art auction, the work Lunchtime sold for EUR 33,600.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 16,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Edward Portielje; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A beautiful smile sold at auction in April 2006 with the realized price of EUR 36,000.00.
