two lithographs in colors, 1897, on wove papers, published by Harper & Brothers, New York, both the full sheets, presumably backed on linen, several soft creases and repaired tears (backed), pale light-staining, the colors slightly attenuated, occasional pale staining, March with the central vertical fold (as issued) and some soft cuffs in the lower left corner, June with a diagonal crease across the upper left corner, otherwise both apparently in good condition, not examined out of the frames

Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Harper'S March; And Harper'S June by Edward Penfield was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 239.00 (€ 189.73). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Penfield achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Automobile Number in March 2018 with an auction result of USD 5,250.00 (€ 4,261.36).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Harper'S March; And Harper'S June von Edward Penfield im Dezember 2003 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 239,00 (€ 189,73) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edward Penfield erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Automobile Number im März 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.250,00 (€ 4.261,36).
