This artwork by Edward Miles achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in January 2009. In the Lord St. Helens and Sir William FitzHerbert The Collections of a Diplomat and a Courtier auction, the work Sir William FitzHerbert, 1st Bt. (1748-1791), in black coat, waistcoat and white frilled cravat; sky background sold for GBP 600.00 (€ 675.40) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 300.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Miles achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A gentleman facing right in grey coat with brass buttons, white waistcoat and frilled cravat, powdered hair en queue; and his young son, facing right in white shirt with large frilled collar and red jacket, curling fair hair (by Thomas Hull) in April 2002 with an auction result of GBP 4,935.00 (€ 7,984.70).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 100 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Edward Miles erzielte im Januar 2009 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Lord St. Helens and Sir William FitzHerbert The Collections of a Diplomat and a Courtier wurde die Arbeit Sir William FitzHerbert, 1st Bt. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A gentleman facing right in grey coat with brass buttons, white waistcoat and frilled cravat, powdered hair en queue; and his young son, facing right in white shirt with large frilled collar and red jacket, curling fair hair (by Thomas Hull) im April 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.935,00 (€ 7.984,70).
