Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2000 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES, which included the work Portrait of a lady with her pet dog by Edward John Cobbett. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 528.75 (€ 864.47) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward John Cobbett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A wreath of wild flowers in May 2002 with an auction result of GBP 7,872.50 (€ 12,328.44).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a lady with her pet dog von Edward John Cobbett zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 500,00 – 700,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 528,75 (€ 864,47) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edward John Cobbett erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A wreath of wild flowers im Mai 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.872,50 (€ 12.328,44).
