In October 2001 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Furniture, Prints, Folk Art and, which included the work Peaceable Kingdom Study: Lion and Ox by Edward Hicks. Here, the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 16,450.00 (€ 18,292.00). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Hicks achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Peaceable Kingdom With The Leopard Of Serenity in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 9,673,000.00 (€ 6,216,580.98).

Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 16.450,00 (€ 18.292,00) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edward Hicks erzielen.
