Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Christ and the Woman of Samaria at the Well by Edward Burne-Jones was sold in the European Art auction at Christies in Paris in October this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 100,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 63,000.00 (€ 59,613.93) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Burne-Jones achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Love among the Ruins in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 14,845,875.00 (€ 16,963,999.76).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Christ and the Woman of Samaria at the Well von Edward Burne-Jones wurde im Oktober diesen Jahres in der Auktion European Art bei Christies in Paris versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 100.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 63.000,00 (€ 59.613,93) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edward Burne-Jones erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Love among the Ruins im Juli 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 14.845.875,00 (€ 16.963.999,76).
