In June 2019 Christies in London held the auction Modern British Art Day Sale, which included the work Elderberries by Edward Burra. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 100,000.00 (€ 112,414.83), 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Burra achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Zoot Suits in June 2011 with an auction result of GBP 2,057,250.00 (€ 2,275,964.73).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Juni 2019 führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern British Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Elderberries von Edward Burra zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 100.000,00 (€ 112.414,83) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edward Burra erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Zoot Suits im Juni 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.057.250,00 (€ 2.275.964,73).
