Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Costume Design For Peasant Woman, 'Don Quixote' by Edward Burra was sold in the 20th Century British Art auction at Sothebys in London in October 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,500.00 (€ 5,735.89) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Burra achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Zoot Suits in June 2011 with an auction result of GBP 2,057,250.00 (€ 2,275,964.73).
