Auction result misses estimated price range

The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hand Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edwaert Collier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Vanitas Still Life With A Candlestick, Musical Instruments, Dutch Books, A Writing Set, An Astrological And A Terrestial Globe And An Hourglass, All On A Draped Table in February 2013 with an auction result of USD 506,500.00 (€ 387,262.02).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A skull atop a jewelled crown, an astrological globe, an hourglass, a book, a shell with soap bubbles and an engraved portrait of the Emperor Augustus on a draped table - a vanitas von Edwaert Collier im Dezember diesen Jahres bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 4.788,00 (€ 5.515,59) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edwaert Collier erzielen.
