Artwork auctioned at four times the pre-set estimate
When the work "Flat Top Pyramid with Colors Superimposed" by Sol LeWitt was auctioned at VAN HAM in September 2015, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The estimate was set at - in retrospect quite modest - EUR 1,500.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at EUR 6,396.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sol LeWitt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Wavy Brushstrokes in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 449,000.00 (€ 636,531.19).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit "Flat Top Pyramid with Colors Superimposed" von Sol LeWitt im September 2015 bei VAN HAM versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – EUR 1.500,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit EUR 6.396,00 mehr als viermal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sol LeWitt erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Wavy Brushstrokes im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 449.000,00 (€ 636.531,19).
