Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait of Isaac Manning (1773-1833), Full-Length, Seated In A Study, A View of Easton Neston, Northamptonshire, Through A Window Beyond by Edmund Bristow was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,320.00 (€ 1,926.77). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edmund Bristow achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Windsor Castle in July 2012 with an auction result of GBP 23,750.00 (€ 30,251.12).
