Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Bord De Canal by Edmond-Marie Petitjean was auctioned at Sothebys in London in October 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 4,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,949.18). Admittedly, works by Edmond-Marie Petitjean have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ships in a Port in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 18,800.00 (€ 20,154.37).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Bord De Canal von Edmond-Marie Petitjean im Oktober 2007 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 2.750,00 (€ 3.949,18) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edmond-Marie Petitjean auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ships in a Port im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 18.800,00 (€ 20.154,37).
