Sold at the upper estimate price
In May 2007 Christies in London held the auction British, Continental & Russian Pictures & Prints, which included the work Portrait of a young boy, quarter-length, in a white shirt and blue hat by Edith Oenone Somerville. The auction ended at the price of GBP 600.00 (€ 882.94), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edith Oenone Somerville - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Upper lake, Killarney, which sold at auction in July 2004 for GBP 1,314.50 (€ 1,986.50).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im Mai 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion British, Continental & Russian Pictures & Prints durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a young boy, quarter-length, in a white shirt and blue hat von Edith Oenone Somerville zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 600,00 (€ 882,94) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 400,00 – 600,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Edith Oenone Somerville mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Upper lake, Killarney beobachtet, die im Juli 2004 für GBP 1.314,50 (€ 1.986,50) versteigert wurde.
