The work Purple Hills by Edgar Alwin Payne was sold in the California Art auction at Bonhams in April this year. The »bidding war« ended at USD 10,200.00 (€ 9,239.13), 70% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edgar Alwin Payne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Red Mesa, Monument Valley, Utah in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 289,000.00 (€ 185,637.20).

Die Arbeit Purple Hills von Edgar Alwin Payne wurde im April diesen Jahres in der Auktion California Art bei Bonhams versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 10.200,00 (€ 9.239,13) und damit 70% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edgar Alwin Payne erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Red Mesa, Monument Valley, Utah im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 289.000,00 (€ 185.637,20).
