Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Mountain Lake in the Sierras by Edgar Alwin Payne was sold in the California Art auction at Bonhams in Los Angeles in August this year. It changed hands for a price of USD 76,700.00 (€ 70,762.99) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edgar Alwin Payne - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Red Mesa, Monument Valley, Utah, which sold at auction in April 2008 for USD 289,000.00 (€ 185,637.20).

Die Arbeit A Mountain Lake in the Sierras von Edgar Alwin Payne wurde im August diesen Jahres in der Auktion California Art bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 76.700,00 (€ 70.762,99) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Edgar Alwin Payne mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Red Mesa, Monument Valley, Utah beobachtet, die im April 2008 für USD 289.000,00 (€ 185.637,20) versteigert wurde.
