Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Bernhard von Guérard could be acquired at Sothebys in London in April 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Important Miniatures from a Private Collection auction, the work Portrait Of A Lady, Possibly Archduchess Maria Ludovica Of Austria, Later Empress Of Austria (1787-1816) changed hands for GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,593.57) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bernhard von Guérard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Maria Ludovika, Archduchess Of Austria-Este, Empresses Of Austria (1787-1816), Circa 1808 in December 2019 with an auction result of GBP 32,500.00 (€ 38,411.20).
