This price was achieved in the auction Two Centuries: American Art at Sothebys in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 7,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Dwight William Tryon; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Newport At Night sold at auction in November 2015 with the realized price of USD 50,000.00 (€ 47,339.52).
