Despite a disappointment, a good price for Dudley Buxton
This work of art by Dudley Buxton could be acquired at Christies in London in December 2004 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British and Continental Watercolours including Original Book auction, the work "And you'll wear those pyjamas too - I'm not going to let the shopkeepers know I married a shrimp!" changed hands for GBP 179.25 (€ 253.69) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 200.00 – 400.00. Despite this disappointing result, "And you'll wear those pyjamas too - I'm not going to let the shopkeepers know I married a shrimp!" is the most expensive artwork by Dudley Buxton that we have observed at auction so far.
