Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by William Crotch could be acquired at Christies in London in November 2010 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Collection of the Late John Appleby: A Channel Island Treasure House auction, the work Three views of Windsor: Julius Caesar's Tower; Caesar's Tower, The Lock House and Wyattville Tower; and St. George's Chapel and Mausoleum (illustrated) changed hands for GBP 750.00 (€ 896.25) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Crotch - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A view of Windsor Castle from Clewer Lane, which sold at auction in June 2004 for GBP 1,553.50 (€ 2,312.07).
