Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Dong Qichang could be acquired at Christies in Hong Kong in December last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy auction, the work Misty River at Night changed hands for HKD 50,400.00 (€ 6,039.71) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of HKD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dong Qichang achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy In Regular And Running Script After The Old Masters in October 2021 with an auction result of HKD 57,750,000.00 (€ 6,423,887.64).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Dong Qichang konnte im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy wechselte die Arbeit Misty River at Night für HKD 50.400,00 (€ 6.039,71) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von HKD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Dong Qichang erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Calligraphy In Regular And Running Script After The Old Masters im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 57.750.000,00 (€ 6.423.887,64).
