This artwork by Dong Qichang achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Paris in June this year. In the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy auction, the work Bai Juyi’s Song of Long Regretfulness in Running Script sold for HKD 8,820,000.00 (€ 1,030,615.38) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 5,000,000.00. Admittedly, works by Dong Qichang have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Calligraphy In Regular And Running Script After The Old Masters in October 2021 with an auction result of HKD 57,750,000.00 (€ 6,423,887.64).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 76 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Dong Qichang erzielte im Juni diesen Jahres bei Christies in Paris einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy wurde die Arbeit Bai Juyi’s Song of Long Regretfulness in Running Script für HKD 8.820.000,00 (€ 1.030.615,38) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 5.000.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Dong Qichang auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Calligraphy In Regular And Running Script After The Old Masters im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 57.750.000,00 (€ 6.423.887,64).
