In March 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, which included the work Phaeton Ii by Donald De Lue. The »bidding war« ended at USD 23,750.00 (€ 15,026.89), 32% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Donald De Lue have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Cosmic Head in March 2020 with an auction result of USD 68,750.00 (€ 62,335.66).

Im März 2008 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Phaeton Ii von Donald De Lue zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 23.750,00 (€ 15.026,89) und damit 32% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Donald De Lue auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Cosmic Head im März 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 68.750,00 (€ 62.335,66).
