Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study for a section of the decoration of a room with a vaulted ceiling, including the coat of arms of Pope Gregory XV (Ludovisi), and the wall below with indications of compartments with wainscoting by Domenico Zampieri was sold in the Master Works on Paper from Five Centuries auction at Sothebys in New York in January last year. The price achieved of USD 15,120.00 (€ 13,485.55) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Domenico Zampieri achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Saint John the Evangelist in December 2009 with an auction result of GBP 9,225,250.00 (€ 10,406,406.42).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 15.120,00 (€ 13.485,55) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Domenico Zampieri erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Saint John the Evangelist im Dezember 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 9.225.250,00 (€ 10.406.406,42).
